About Köthen
Köthen is a city in the eastern part of Germany, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Leipzig/Halle Airport, located approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Köthen, is the closest international airport to Köthen. The airport connects to numerous locations in Europe and beyond, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Moscow and Vienna.
Monthly living costs: 700 – 900 €. That includes the cost of accommodation (350 – 550€), Food and groceries (150 – 250€), transportation (60 – 80€), and health insurance (100 – 120€).
Köthen is a small city of about 26,000 people and has a relatively small student population, with about 3,500 students enrolled in higher education programs. Compared to larger German cities, Köthen offers a more informal and small-town atmosphere for student life. While there may not be as many social and cultural options for students, a smaller community can encourage closer ties between students and staff and provide a more specialized educational experience. Overall, Köthen offers a beautiful and serene setting for students who want a quieter and more focused academic experience.
